Meursault, where Domaine Jean Monnier & Sons is rooted
Founded in 1720, the Monnier family has been producing wines in Meursault for generations. Today, Domaine Jean Monnier et Fils covers 16 hectares and is one of the few estates in Meursault crafting both white and red wines.
The domaine is currently led by Nicolas Monnier, who brings a modern perspective while preserving family traditions, alongside his wife Corinne, who plays a key role in the daily management.
Their children, Zélie and Justin, also work at the estate, continuing the family legacy.
Vineyards, Philosophy & Harvest
The estate places great importance on terroir preservation, with every decision guided by environmental respect and long-term sustainability. Although not certified organic, the domaine follows sustainable viticulture practices, known as “lutte raisonnée,” with treatments applied only when necessary and on a parcel-by-parcel basis in response to real risk assessments.
Located in a region sensitive to vine diseases such as powdery and downy mildew, the estate relies on careful monitoring, preventative methods, and minimal intervention strategies that respect natural balances and beneficial organisms.
Harvest is carried out entirely by hand, with each parcel picked at optimal ripeness to preserve precision and aromatic purity. The harvest is a family and community event, bringing together seasonal workers from across France in a convivial atmosphere, marking the culmination of a year of meticulous vineyard work.
