I prioritize organic wineries—certified or not—because certification doesn’t always reflect true commitment to the land. While winemaking is complex and often requires tough decisions, I recognize that even the most dedicated producers must adapt to the climate change.

Beyond the labels

Ultimately, behind every label is a story—dedicated winemakers, vineyard workers, négociants—people who pour their hearts into their craft. For me, wine is more than a product; it’s a testament to the resilience and artistry of those who create it.

Born and raised in the picturesque hills of Sancerre, wine has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Growing up

Growing up surrounded by vineyards, I developed a deep connection to the land and its fruits, nurtured further by my sister, Laura Masero, whose own passion for wine was contagious. She opened my eyes to the magic of wineries, the vibrancy of restaurant culture, and the joy of connecting with others who share a love for wine through tastings and conversations.

Experience

Inspired by these experiences, I decided to turn my passion into a profession, pursuing studies in Wine Business in Beaune, at the heart of Burgundy, in my early 20s. This education gave me not only a deeper understanding of the wine industry but also the tools to navigate its complexities. My career began as an export manager for renowned wineries, where I had the privilege of traveling the world. From bustling cities to remote wine-growing regions, I introduced people to the wines I believed in, sharing the stories, traditions, and passion behind every bottle. Each journey enriched my perspective, reinforcing my belief that wine is not just a product but a bridge that connects people, cultures, and histories.

Today

Today, as the founder of Grappillon Wine Company, my mission is to represent exceptional wineries and share their stories with a global audience. My roots in Sancerre, combined with my international experience, allow me to bring a unique perspective to the world of wine export, championing both tradition and innovation.

I recognize the complexities of winemaking. Each vintage brings its own challenges, from frost to disease, and winemakers sometimes have to make difficult decisions to protect their harvests. After all, they are not just artisans but also business owners with employees and obligations to sustain. An organic label often signals strong convictions, but the realities of climate change are making it increasingly challenging to grow vines organically in certain regions. Being realistic about climate change means acknowledging its impact on viticulture and adapting accordingly.

Global warming, frost, and other pressures can demand flexibility from even the most committed producers.
